After much consideration we purchased a Colorado 335 from Adventure
Supplies receiving slick delivery and good after sales help. Inaugural
trip was down the River Annan, just north of the border. Put in level
with the M74 services then 8hrs down to Annan, bit slow as water
rather low, then 10 mins of deflation and pack up, into a taxi and
back to our van. This taster confirmed the advice Adventure
Supplies had given us i.e. a stable craft capable of both flat water
and moving water trips coping well with grade 2-3 rapids, combined
with enough storage space for camping equipment for a multiday trip.On
to bigger things. We have just completed a five day Kinlochleven to
Perth traverse of Scotland, camping 3 of the 4 nights. Portages of all
kit perfectly possible for male + female couple of reasonable strength
and fitness, aided by the frame off an old frame rucksack (though we
are now buying a trolley!). Despite plenty of general rough handling
and abuse on rock the boat still looks virtually brand new and ready
for many more adventure. Boat has proved a great and practical
alternative to a rigid open deck canadian canoe being hugely easier to
transport and infact able to cope with a much wider range of water,
being shorter it is also much more manouverable in rapids. Highly
recommended - but not as a kiddies toy.
